Wormholt Park
Did you know Wormholt Park has an area of 2.0 hectares and is owned by the Hammersmith & Fulham Council? Up until the Norman invasion the area was covered in forest. Around 1065, after the Norman conquest, a lot of the forest was cleared and crops were grown.

There were a lot of farms in the Wormholt area by the 19th Century. The bit of land which is now called Wormholt Park was once part of Wormholt Wood Farm. If you look at a map dated 1853 you will see that Wormholt Wood Farm is called Old Oak Farm. Barn field was just one of the names given to just one of the fields belonging to the farm. Barn field used to be where Wormholt Park now sits.

The land that Wormholt Park was made on belonged to the Church. The Church gave it to Hammersmith. Hammersmith used the land to make the park. Wormholt Park was officially opened in 1911. It now has a green, two parks, two cricket nets, a dog exercise area and a basketball court.

Wormholt Park today

"In the 1980s and 1990s, there was hundreds of people using Wormholt Park. Now people aren't using the park anymore. We're trying to see with this new building if we can get some activities back there." Jean
