Talking to People
In Pope John Primary school, children in Year 6 interviewed some people. The people who were interviewed live in the area and recognise the massive changes.

LIFE
You could leave your door open without anyone coming except for people you know.

A person came around every week to collect rent. If you did not pay your rent you would be out of your house or flat very quickly.

There were lots of parties.

There was a wash room in the estate on each floor and one day a week a few families would be allowed to use it. You would be allowed to choose your day to use the wash room. You would have to choose a day to hang your clothes up.

No cars or dogs were allowed in the courtyards.

You were only allowed to have a bird if you lived in the estate.

SCHOOLS
The dentist came to the schools.

Classes went by A, B, C.

THE JANET ADEGOKE CENTRE
The small pool was for children learning to swim.

As the pools developed they added things like waves which went on for about one and a half minutes.

Older children started to play sports like football and basketball.
