The Franco-British Exhibition
& 1908 Olympics

The Franco-British Exhibition started in 1908. It was a time for the French and the British to show off their food, wine, inventions, buildings and just to show the rest of the world what they were made of.

People came from all around the world just to witness the Franco-British Exhibition and the inventions. India Way, Canada Way, South Africa Road, Canberra School, Australia Road and New Zealand Way were named after all the countries taking part in the Franco-British Grand Exhibition.

The flip-flap (one of the inventions) let you look at the whole of the White City exhibition, maybe Shepherds Busg as well. The French and British also built a Scenic Railway so people would see everything.

The entrance to the Exhibition was in Uxbridge Road and it covered all of the White City Estate.

The 1908 Olympic stadium had a large pool/tank and 400m cycling and running track.
